This Is Us

Faith, Family, and Formulations.

There’s a verse that’s followed me closely in life and business:

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.”

Proverbs 16:3

Lomay Skin was never just a business idea. It was a calling. A whisper that came during one of the most difficult, defining seasons of my life. When my youngest daughter Esmé was in the NICU, I was navigating a swirl of uncertainty, grief, and deep dependence on God. At the same time, I lost the majority of my marketing clients. I had very little clarity on where I was going in my work life but the quiet confidence that God was asking me to trust Him with something new grew loud.

It would’ve been easy to give in to fear. But instead, I made a different choice: to believe that this moment of stripping back was not the end, but a beginning. I chose to show up — not just for myself, but for my daughters too. I wanted to build something with them in mind. Something of worth, of beauty, and of meaning.

That’s how Lomay Skin was born — named after the two girls who are both my reason and my reminder. I changed the spelling slightly to give it clarity, but the heart of the name is theirs. Lomay Skin is a tribute to them, and to what becomes possible when women choose to embrace themselves, trust God, and let faith and curiosity lead the way.

I began developing products in our small farm cottage kitchen in the KZN Midlands, with Esmé beside me in a bouncy chair and Eloise exclaiming “Ooh, look Mommy!” as she helped me sort little jars on the table.

My background is in digital design and branding, so building a beautiful, thoughtful brand felt natural. But this time, it was different. I wasn’t building someone else’s dream anymore, I was stewarding something that felt inspired. Every formula, every label, every ingredient was chosen with care. And somehow, doors began to open. Gently, perfectly timed. As if Heaven was nodding in agreement.

Lomay Skin became a space where nature, nurture, and intention come together. But more than that, it became a lesson I’m living out in front of my girls: that when God calls you into the deep, He goes with you. That you don’t have to wait for permission. And that faith paired with curiosity can move mountains, or at the very least, create something enduring and beautiful.

When things felt too hard, I remembered my Ouma’s wisdom: “Lay your life down, aim for the moon, and you’ll land among the stars.” And when things felt miraculously easy, the perfect supplier, a stranger’s encouragement, an ingredient arriving at just the right time — I knew: this is God’s hand at work.

When something is God-breathed, it carries a kind of ease — not without effort, but filled with grace. That’s how I know I’m where I’m meant to be. And I want my daughters to know this too: that when you step out in faith, He steps in with provision. That building something beautiful doesn’t mean striving, it means trusting. It means showing up, staying curious, and following the peace.

Lomay Skin is more than skincare. It’s my offering – an expression of grace, care, and creativity. It’s the poetry of our lives bottled into moments of self-kindness. I hope that every woman who uses our products feels held, seen, and reminded that she, too, can start again. That she, too, can build something holy with what’s in her hands.

So, to every woman navigating motherhood, business, or simply the quiet ache of a dream unspoken – may this story remind you that the Lord is faithful. That the table in your kitchen might just be the birthplace of a legacy. That beauty blooms where faith is planted.

With love and gratitude,

Leani
