Lomay is built on the legacy of my late mother Sonja, who had an interest in skincare products a decade previously.

I was working online from home, managing a household of pets and kids. I would look out at a Wahlberg eagle pair nesting in the plein tree, the Umgeni river racing down at the bottom of the field and, twice a day, the cows would come past on their way to and from the dairy. We share a simple country life in exquisite surroundings with the purest air and water. 

One day, my sister mentioned something she was interested in – mineral make-up. Her excitement was infectious, and I soon found myself researching it.

A special friend of mine said,

“Find something you love to research. Something you WANT to know more of.”

My interest in mineral make-up evolved into pure natural skincare and soon after, I found myself reaching for product ingredients. And then one day, my brother found a file that had been compiled by our late mom, Sonja. In this file was an undeniable sign that I was heading in the right direction. 

Long story short, after much planning with my husband, Falcon unwaveringly right by my side,  I was energised by the excitement of creating a business where I could use my expertise as a designer, web developer and brand manager in a more substantial way. This, paired with what became a passion, was consuming.

I started creating products in my country kitchen around our dining room table with my youngest Esmé, who was 2 months old at the time, watching from her bouncy chair and my eldest, Eloise (2 years), curiously looking at all the different bottles exclaiming, “ooh, look mommy!” My closest friends and family agreed to try the products and give honest feedback, and soon, I wasn’t dreaming of a more fulfilled career, I was building it!
